How Will Arne Slot's Tactics Shape Liverpool's Future Success?

Following the departure of Jürgen Klopp, Liverpool has appointed a new head coach, namely Arne Slot.

The former Feyenoord manager aims to take a relatively underperforming Liverpool side and turn them into a systematic machine, adopting his style of play which saw him reap great rewards in the Dutch League.

Slot deploys a 4-2-3-1 shape, with one of his fullbacks (typically the right back) inverting into midfield to become a part of the double pivot, transitioning the formation to a 3-4-3 that, like Jürgen’s team, presses aggressively. Coincidentally, in the later stages of his tenure at Anfield, Klopp evolved his usual 4-3-3 style of play to a similar 3-4-3 structure, utilizing Trent Alexander-Arnold as the inverting fullback. Arne’s system will therefore not be uncharted territory for his newly inherited Liverpool squad.

As for the individuals, it is tough to tell which players will rise as FPL assets and which will sink. During their preseason thus far, the Reds have won every game, even when facing difficult opposition such as Arsenal, so their opening fixture against Ipswich Town (A) makes it one to target.

Mohamed Salah (£12.5 million), Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7 million), and Virgil van Dijk (£6 million) are the three most popular Liverpool assets due to their consistent point-scoring ability and significant game time. Midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai (£6.5 million), however, is also an attacking player who will accumulate many minutes throughout the season as long as he remains fit and could be a fantastic differential. Regarding their front line, players like Diogo Jota, Darwin Núñez, Cody Gakpo, and Luis Díaz all pose rotation risks, and avoiding them altogether may be the safest option.

Arne gonna have them running . No more full metal football though . I think attacking assets from Liverpool is the way to go , especially with a good set of fixtures to open the season
