Is Victor Osimhen the missing piece in Chelsea's puzzle?
One of the most highly touted strikers in world football has heavy links with a move to Stamford
Bridge...but is it what the Blues need?
With the signings of Pedro Neto and most recently Joao Felix, Chelsea are clearly looking for
ways to strengthen their attack and 2023’s African Player of the Year could be the killer 9 that
they are looking for.
In their opening game against Manchester City, Chelsea found themselves unable to finish their
chances, which unfortunately was a recurring theme for them last season, with forward Nicolas
Jackson bearing the brunt of the blame for their struggles.
Now, the Blues seemingly have their eyes set on what could be an instant upgrade to Jackson,
a move that could seriously level them up.
The way in which Enzo Maresca sets up his Chelsea team would be perfect for a player with
Osimhen skill set, as he doesn't need the ball at his feet all the time to make an impact. His
brute strength combined with his ruthless finishing and aerial prowess would allow him to better
Chelsea's ability to end off one of their well-worked passages of play with the ball in the back of
the opposition’s net.
65 goals in 108 Serie A games should not be taken lightly and current Chelsea assets would
love to have an efficient goalscorer they can rely on to bury the opportunities they create. Cole
Palmer (£10.5m), Christopher Nkunku (£6.5m) and Malo Gusto/Reece James (£5.0m) could all
reap great rewards having Osimhen ahead of them.
I agree!
